If your diesel engine is 2013 model year or newer, it has an on-board diagnostics port. We plug in, pull the emissions data and submit it to CARB. Most newer freight and DC tractors are done in minutes.
If your engine is 2012 or older, there's no OBD data to read, so it gets a SAE J1667 snap-acceleration smoke opacity test instead — common on older grape and almond haulers. Not sure? Call and read us the engine year.
